lungs full of smoke [Nov. 9th, 2006|01:09 pm]
[Music |the matches - what katie said]

life. a word that can mean so many things to so many people. what is death? could it be a journey beyond the gates to a magical land full of beautiful winged angels or eternal damnation? could it be more? could it be less? why are we all here? "i'm going to die alone. we're all going to die alone. when we die there's nothing, nothing but you and the memories you choose to keep." there is no plan for any of us. we were put on earth for one purpose, to die. that's all we can expect. shit happens, we die. nothingness eternal. there is no god or devil or heavenly spirits or demons. so you can pray and pray and pray, but no one will be saved. we've all been lied to, and it's never going to stop.
what are we all working towards? what are we all wasting our time and energy on? going to school to get a piece of paper that says we're better than someone that doesn't have that piece of paper? going to a job we hate so we can bitch about how much our lives suck because we're all in debt or wanted or need a break? this life is only worth what you make of it. going to school to get a diploma for something you really don't wanna do is kinda a waste of time, why waste the little time you have doing something you hate. when you were a kid did you ever say "oh i wanna work 9 to 5 everyday like my mom and dad?" no, when you're a kid you don't have to worry about that kind of shit, so you dream big, you wanna be a baseball player or a rock star or an astronaut.
(my american dream is to have it a little bit better than my parents ever had it.) i'm not gonna waste the time on earth i have left worrying about how much money i make or anything stupid meaningless shit, i just want to do something i love, and i'm going to do something i love. take advantage of life, don't take it for granted. you only have so many years to live, and i'm sure you don't want them to be wasted in a classroom or a cubicle.
in conclusion, the meaning of life, shit happens, then a jet engine falls through your bedroom while you're sleeping. (six feet of earth makes us all equal.)

there's no more trying tonight [Jul. 11th, 2006|06:47 pm]
[Music |t.e.n. - sunday drive]

these times aren't gone forever, nothing else seems to matter, sit and watch the sun die, goodbye. feeling uninspired, left alone and tired, waking up to nothing, i need something. i can't say goodbye forever, but i'll say goodbye for now.

this time, like last time, it's over, i'm leaving this behind.

the walls are closing in now, i'm walking through it somehow, waking up with nothing, give me something. i've lost all sense of meaning staring at the ceiling, no longer believing anything. i can't say goodbye forever, but i'll say goodbye for now.

this time, like last time, it's over, i'm leaving this behind.

...and i can't stand another day without you, but i have to walk away. infatuation's got me going crazy, desperation makes me stay.

this time, like last time, it's over, i'm leaving this behind.

i've taken all that i can take

i've taken all that i can take

i've taken all that i can take

so i'm leaving this behind

i've taken all that i can take

i've taken all that i can take

i've taken all that i can take

so i'm leaving this behind

stolen from an african land [May. 26th, 2006|09:06 pm]
so i guess you might be wondering where i've been, well, probably not. anyways, i've been working and such. stratton is on a temporary hiatus for a few more weeks until mike is all finished with school and graduation and langan is back.
however, farley and tom and alex and me have formed a new band, doc and the future boys. we're a 50's style rock band singing about the future (the 80's), you know, laser guns and space ships and interplanetary associations, because that's what 50's people thought the 80's were gonna be like. however, i am from the future, a future where will smith is a superhero, and that's about the only different thing between everyone else and me.
i'm having a lot of fun at my new job and shit, almost everyone is kick ass, and i "play" for the softball team, meaning i go for the beer and the bud.
i have a feeling once we're off hiatus, stratton is gonna go somewhere, but i must admit, doc and the future boys creates some really catchy tunes, and i'm thinking of starting a ska/reggae band, in which i wanna play guitar and sing, i miss the guitar days. i've come up with a few riffs i wanna work with, and i should be able to find a couple more people to complete the trio pretty easily.
anyways, it's summer and everyone's home, yet i haven't paid my phone bill in like 2 months so i have no service and therefore no one is able to get in touch with me, which sucks, but it'll be back on sooner or later.
anyways, just an update for the people i haven't seen in forever.

peace out bitches.

i just wanna break you down so badly. (in the worst way.) [Apr. 4th, 2006|01:45 pm]
studio day 1 and 2

we have the rough drums down for everything and most of the rough guitar down. we plan on recording the four songs we have before we finish the last 2 or 3. fritz and me wrote some music for the 2/3 new songs that we feel have a nice sound that we'd like to try out. we're also adding newer guitar riffs and drum beats to the older songs. we should be outta here soon. but until we are i'm gonna update everyone who reads this just so it looks like i'm in a big band keeping a studio journal.

[Music |bleed the dream - legends die]

hola motherfuckers. i guess i have some shit to say. first and foremost: everyone come out and see stratton at queen of peace high school in north arlington. if you're gonna come ask anyone of stratton for directions. get there at like 7. i think we go on at 7:30, and i have no idea what the cost is.

second: stratton hits the studio next week to record their EP. we'll be heading back to ambush recordings in perth amboy to record the follow up to the texaco demos, which will have 6 tracks, 5 new original songs and a remastered version of the OC. the EP will probably cost like 5 bucks, and you can get it by contacting us through myspace or purevolume, or if you're one of our friends just holla at ya bois, and it will be available at all upcoming shows.

track list (as of now):
1) I Could Never Really Price Dining Room Sets Anyway, Alex
2) We Went to War with Redbank...and Won
3) Leverage and Coverage (Sandy's Tits)
4) untitled track as of now
5) untitled track as of now
6) O.C., California (The Surgery Song)

third: come out to see stratton on march 30th at hamilton street. admission is $8 in advance from the band, or $10 @ the door. i'm still unsure of door time, but we'll be playing with haven 21, the prize fight and the specs. come out for a bitchin' ass fuckin' time.

fourth: i'd like to thank everybody who came to justin's for our birthdays last saturday. i hope everyone had a radical time. i know i did. and by the by, colleen, the cake was superb, you kick ass.

fifth: as most of you know, danny wust recently passed away. stratton knew him as emo danny, and he was a very close friend to all of us. he came to so many of our practices and sang along, we invited him on stage to sing "it's dangerous business walking out your front door" with us at the last annex show, and we hung out when we weren't doing anything as a band. we will be dedicating our set to him at queen of peace high school, along with most of our upcoming shows. fritz and me are trying to set up a benefit show at st. joseph school in carteret, nj. all the money would go to danny's family, to help them with the funeral/wake costs. we knew danny very well, he would have wanted us to keep playing and keep having a good time and remembering his life. he will never be forgotten, we'll love him forever.
